Discovering Rastafari and myself in the process
I was first introduced to Rastafari in 1989. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Rastafari by those whom I consider, true, deep, real Rastas. I was going through some of the worst times in my life and I was surrounded by Rastafarians on all sides.
They would counsel me. They would teach me. They accepted me. They love me as I was and am.
It took 10 years, the willful woman that I am, to submit to Rastafari and overs the message that I was given.
I started with learning about TTOI, at first, thinking they were the most liberal of the mansions.
One very bright sunny day I was walking home from work. About 4 blocks into my six block walk from the train station a butterfly started to fly in front of me. I followed it. It took me home.
I kept my eyes on that butterfly and suddenly it was revealed to me that I should no longer claim a mansion.
It was revealed to I that we are Rastafari first, foremost and always.
It is the exterior forces that try to separate us. They know that when we continue to divide ourselves into mansions that they have the power, because with division comes conflict and conflict drains our power to fight them.
As one that appears to be of European decent I have suffered great injuries by those that call Rastafari. Some how they have greater knowledge then JAH as to question why I was put into this vessel, this body, to experience this world.
It is JAH that created me, it is JAH that has lead me on this path. I do not come willy-nilly to Rastafari. I come as I am as I was created.
To understand me you must not see me, you must feel me.
