To Introduce I-Self:

My name is Jan. I'm a primaryschool teacher. I teach little children who are 7 or 8 years old. Although those children have to learn a lot, I especially try to let their selfesteem grow. So humour and praising the good things they do is essential to me.
Because my school is an Christian school, I've told stories from the Holy Bible for nearly 30 years. Telling stories is a great talent and passion of me. But also to discuss the meaning of those stories. I love it when those little children already have different views on what they belief or not. I learn them that they don't have to belief what the teacher beliefs.
Before the lessons start there is often reggae-music to be heard in the classroom. This music relaxes me. And being a teacher I want the older children of the school to learn the truth about slavery when they have lessons in history. They must know that Holland has a bloody history of being slavemasters. I hope this makes the children humble when they meet people of other races and beliefs.

Grow in knowlegde, so my understanding of this world of Rastafarinism grows. Being raised in a Christian family I know the Biblical stories. And reading about Rastafarians I recognize a lot of it in the stories I know. But living that way must be a different story. It's interesting to read what people move in that organisation. Learning to respect different beliefs by understand what is moving people.
