Greetings, witch hazel is just an astringent which can be used to clean the scalp but as far as lint it is best to cover the idrens locks @ night. As far as sand a thorough washing should take care of that.

I have been toying with the idea of getting dreadlocks of my own, but have wondered about the maintenance of them. This entry has been very helpul to me. Does anyone have some advice they would give to someone who has never had dreads before concerning maintainence?
